HTC Sense 3.5/4.0 for HTC Wildfire S (Custom ROM)

HTC Wildfire S Sense 3.5

Rooting your HTC Wildfire S unlocks a range of great features - you can install Custom ROMS, store your apps data on your SD card (eliminating low internal memory messages!) Overclock your CPU and use even more awesome apps from the Google Play Store. Today I am going to be showing you a Sense 3.5 Custom ROM and a mod that updates it to a Sense 4.0 look.

To be able to take advantage of sense 3.5 and 4.0, you will need to root your HTC Wildfire S and Install the Clockwork Recovery Mod.

HTC Sense 3.5 ROM

The HTC Sense 3.5 ROM I am showing you is by m1ndh4x8r. It is based off of the "HTC_Marvel_idogx_2.3.5_Sense3.5_0210" ROM and has ICS transitions, battery percentage, an overclocked Kernel and comes with Busybox. It is compatible with Link2SD and Data2SD, Flashplayer (you heard it, flashplayer!) and Beats Audio, making it a pretty awesome ROM.
For full details and screenshots you can check out the post here.

HTC Sense 4.0 Clock and Lockscreen Mod

The HTC Sense 4.0 Clock and Lockscreen Mod "does what it says on the tin." It gives you a HTC Sense 4.0 Look-a-like Clock and Lockscreen. It only works on Deodexed Sense 3.5 ROMS (like the one I showed you above) but looks great. The Mod is by seaskyways.

For full details and screenshots you can check out the post here.

During April I will be posting how to install custom ROMS on your HTC Wildfire S, how to install data2sd, link2sd and many  more awesome tutorials. To get notified by email when we release an awesome post, subscribe:

How to Root HTC Wildfire S on 2.3.5 S-ON for free

Here is a guide to rooting your HTC Wildfire S on Android 2.3.5, while having S-ON. Credit goes to XDA Developer Members theq86 and barbey.me. Click their usernames for their original forum posts. Warning this will void your warranty.

This tutorial requires an Android Phone and a PC running Windows.

Before this tutorial starts, download and install HTC Sync here. Aswell as this you need HTC Drivers. Also, download this file and extract it to C:\Android.

Also, go to your phones settings, click power and disable fast boot. Also, go to settings > applications > development and tick USB Debugging.

I am not responsible for any damages you make to your phone.  Make sure to backup everything before starting.

If you have ANY questions, stupid or not, leave them below

Step 1: Updating your bootloader
  • First of all, we need to unlock your devices bootloader. To do this, first of all we need to get your phones version number.
  • Go to Menu > Settings > About Phone > Software Information > More. Keep note of the Kernel Version.
  • Now go to HTCDev.com and Register for an account.
  • Once registered, go to the home page of HTCDev.com and select Unlock Bootloader.
  • On the right of this page, select the HTC Wildfire S on the dropdown box and Click Unlock Bootloader.
  • Accept all the long disclaimer messages, and click proceed to install instructions.
  • Now, scroll down to the bottom of the page. Find the ROM which has the same number as the kernel version you noted down before and download it. If you cannot find your ROM scroll to the bottom of this post. For example, mine was 2.13.401.3 so I downloaded the HTC EU one.
  • Once it has downloaded, plug in your phone, make sure USB debugging is enabled and open the file you just downloaded from HTCDev.
  • Now, follow the on screen instructions. It should be fairly easy.
  • Once it's done Congratulations! You have updated your bootloader.
Step 2: Unlocking your bootloader
  • Now we need to unlock your bootloader.
  • Make sure it has finished updating the bootloader. Now, remove the battery from your phone and put it back in. Also unplug your phone from your PC.
  • Go back to the HTC Dev page with the list of downloads. At the bottom of that page, click Proceed to Step 1. Go to the bottom of the page again and click proceed to 5 and then ONCE again to Proceed to Step 8. If you are confused just click here to go to the page I am talking about. We are going to need this page later, so leave it for now.
  • Now, Press the power button on your smartphone and the Volume Down button at the same time. It should load up a white menu.
  • Using the volume buttons, highlight "Fastboot" and press the power button to select it.
  • Now, plug in your phone to your computer and make sure on the screen it says "Fastboot USB"
  • Make sure you have downloaded and extracted the RAR file to C:\Android at the start of the post. If not download here.
  • Press the Windows Key + R at the same time on your PC. A run dialogue will pop up.
  • Type in CMD and press Enter. Once CMD Loads, type in "CD C:\Android" without the quotes.
  • Now on CMD type "fastboot oem get_identifier_token" without the quotes. It will show a bunch of code.
  • Now, right click the end of the text and click mark. Highlight everything from <<< Identifier Token Start >>> to <<< Identifier Token End >>> and Press Ctrl + C.
  • Now, go back to the HTCDev page. Scroll to the bottom of the page and paste your code in the box at the bottom and click submit.
  • You will receive and email with a file attached. Download the attachment and place it in your C:\Android folder.
  • Once it has downloaded, go to the CMD Window and type "fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin" without quotes.
  • Now on your phone, confirm that you want to unlock your bootloader. Use the volume buttons to go up and down and use the Power button to select. Make sure you select confirm!
  • Your bootloader is unlocked! Exit this menu and launch your phone as usual.

Step 3: Rooting your HTC Wildfire S
  • Now that you have unlocked your bootloader, download the HTC Supertool. (Fixed Link)
  • Once you have downloaded/unzipped the above file and, launch SuperTool.exe.
  • Make sure your phone is loaded as normal and that USB Debugging is enabled.
  • Press 1 to prep using Zergrush method. Once it has done that, press 3 to root. Once it has rooted, type reboot and then press enter. It will reset your phone and you should now have root.
  • If it did not work, try pressing 2 instead of 1 on the above instruction.
  • Now on your phone, go to the Google Play store and install superuser.
  • You're now hopefully rooted!

You now have the power to install ROM's such as Android 4.0 aswell as speed up your smartphone!

Alternative Root Method:

  • Download and Install UnlockRoot on your PC
  • Connect your HTC Wildfire S with USB Debugging Enabled
  • Open UnlockRoot. If using Windows 7 or Vista, run as administrator.
  • On the UnlockRoot interface, click "Root."
  • Reboot your HTC Wildfire S and install Superuser from the google play store.
  • Your device should be rooted.
If you cannot find your ROM Version:

What you need to do is download a random one and open it up with your htc wildfire s connected in USB Debugging mode. Once you go through the steps, it will show a Update Screen. At the top of this screen it will say your ROM version. Once you've got the rom version, download the correct one from the site :)

Kernel Developers Needed - Help Us Root the HTC Wildfire S

Are you a kernel developer, or learning to become a kernel developer? Then the HTC Wildfire S community needs your help. Everyone over at the xda developer forums are working hard to gain s-off on the smartphone. So far, they have developed an unlocked bootloader. However, with this unlocked bootloader you are not able to resize system partitions, you can't flash HBOOT, your warranty is voided and many other things that cannot be achieved unless we gain s-off.

That's why we need kernel developers that can help us gain s-off and root our HTC Wildfire S devices once and for all. Plus, you'll get a lot of credit from it (I'll be personally writing a rooting tutorial and crediting everyone involved once s-off is achieved) and you'll probably boost HTC Wildfire S sales once people find out it can be rooted. We will be able to install Custom ROMs, make our smartphones crazy fast, overclock the CPU, install awesome applications and more.

To help out with the cause, please register for the XDA Developer forums, then read this thread and post any help you can provide. Thanks!

The business world can be ruthless.  But recent markets may indicate that Wall Street isn’t the home of the battlegrounds.  Instead, there is a changing landscape for the where the world’s most ruthless wars to go down in history, and it takes place in southern California, in what we know as Silicon Valley.

HTC One Series To Use Android 4.0 Quad Core CPU

HTC One Series To Use Android 4.0 Quad Core CPU
Mobile phone manufacturer High Tech Computer Corporation or HTC made a lot of buzz during the recent Mobile World Congress when they introduced their very first Android 4.0 powered smartphones namely the HTC One V, One S, and One X.
Like all other HTC mobile phones, each are packed with similar features such as Beats Audio Integration, Watch, and 25 GB of online storage through DropBox. Aside from that, the new phones will come with Dual Shutter Camera Module with Video Pic, giving you the option to record HD video while taking pictures at the same time. Here is a glimpse of the different individual features of HTC’s One Series.

HTC One V

The HTC One V is the company’s newest entry level handset which will run on Google Android 4.0. It will come with a 3.7-inch qHD screen, a 1GHz dual-core processor, 512MB RAM, and a 5 megapixel camera with a 720 pixel video recording. Rumor has it that the HTC One V is likely to have its worldwide launch by April of this year. Although this has not yet been confirmed by any US telecom providers. As the HTC One V comes with low-end specs, it will most likely be offered for free with two-year contracts in the European market.

HTC One S
The HTC One S is the Taiwanese telecom company’s thinnest phone ever. It will be powered by a 1.5GHz dual core Qualcomm S4 processor, 1 GB worth of RAM, and an 8 megapixel camera allowing simultaneous capturing of video and images. While the HTC One S will be rolled out to different service providers worldwide, it is likely that T-Mobile will be the lone provider of the One S in the US market. It will come with Beats Audio integration!

HTC One X

The HTC One X is the first ever phone model that will run on the NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor. However, a second version will run on the Qualcomm S4 dual processor with LTE integration exclusively for AT & T subscribers in the United States.
These are the latest HTC smartphones that will hit the market soon.
